Ever wondered how many revisions you should expect web design work to go through before being sent to the client? Having a good, streamlined, reliable process is key to moving things forward without getting stuck on endless revisions.

Here, we’ll share the steps we take at Flawless Inbound when we’re creating web pages and the approval process we adhere to.

Step 1: Conception

We start by looking at the goal of the page and what journey we want the users to go through. Then we draw our concept on paper section by section until we have a full-page drawing.

This often involves the account’s team collaborating — bringing together content requirements, technical requirements, and fitting it into the overall purpose of the website.

Step 2: Digital Mock-Up

Next, we take the drawing and create a Photoshop mock-up. This mock-up will have gridlines, colors, icons, font-family and font-sizes without spending too much time on images. After it is completed, the mock-up will provide the client with a good understanding of our concept and layout and guide us through the actual page build.

Step 3: Page Design

Now we need to create the web page. We often start with mobile design first to ensure perfect responsiveness. We then create each section using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, HubSpot, WordPress, etc.

Step 4: Cross-Browser/Device Testing

Using various tools, we ensure that our code validates without errors and that our CSS includes cross-browser styles. We also use tools like Google Console to test the page on different devices and we finally test the page on both Mac and PC.

Step 5: Internal Approval

After all of the above is complete, we send the page off to the team for internal testing and review. We only approve the page once all links, functionalities and features have been tested. We give the content another read, ensure all the images are correct, and double check that it works on all screen sizes.

Now we are ready to send it to the client!
